Dogs in the Landscape

Can your dog and your landscape co-exist peacefully?
Anyone who owns a dog can remember how they started out as a sweet, fluffy puppy - truly man’s best friend. Everything they did was just… cute.
But then your dog grew into the terrorizer of your garden and nemesis of your landscape. Your plants look ragged, your flowers are chewed off and you can’t walk across the lawn without tripping over another new hole. Definitely not as cute anymore.
If this sounds like your dog and your yard, there’s good news! With thoughtful design, you, your dog and your landscape can live together in harmony.
Skye’s story
I carefully planned ahead for my dog. I had to go on a waiting list for months to buy my special little puppy. In preparation of her arrival, I worked hard to build a perfect home for her enjoyment. Much like a parent getting a nursery ready for a new baby, I renovated my yard to create a happy environment for both of us to enjoy. New lawn, new garden beds, wonderful plants and shelter. When completed, it looked beautiful and I felt confident that all was ready for Skye.
Only… I really wasn’t. A master’s degree in Landscape Architecture did little to prepare me for the lessons this little bundle of joy was about to teach me.
